Writers have always kept story bibles and index cards and spreadsheets. Those work, but they stop keeping up as a book grows. Premise keeps track of every detail, from your story bible to your clues, your misdirects, your twists, and your foreshadowing.

Every book starts from your idea. You write the seed, and Premise expands it into a full premise you can edit. Your logline and hook, the core conflict, the stakes, the theme, the genre and tone, and where the book sits in the market. Every field is yours to rewrite.

Then the ending gets designed before the middle. Tell Premise how your story ends, or let it suggest an ending drawn from who your characters are and what they want. It distills that into the answers most first drafts never pin down. The ending itself. The final image. The cost your protagonist pays. And what must never happen for the ending to work. Premise holds every later chapter against them.

Atmosphere, and the rules the world runs on. The limits, because limits are where plots come from. Locations and factions and their conflicts. Themes and plot hooks. Magic, where the story has it. History and economy and recurring visuals. Each layer is its own field, stored separately so nothing flattens into one blob of lore. Your edits survive regeneration.

For every character Premise keeps their role and background and goal. It also keeps the deeper drivers that make a character real. Their need, their wound, their fear, their flaw, the misbelief they carry, and the secret they keep. It maps every starting relationship between characters, and shows the whole cast as a constellation you can explore.

As you draft, Premise learns each character's voice from their own prose. It picks up their narration style, their vocabulary, their sentence rhythm, and their thought patterns. Dialogue cadence is kept separate from narration, so how a character speaks aloud is tracked apart from how their sections read.

Your protagonist and antagonist both get real arcs. The protagonist's core wound and need and misbelief, plus the transformation path between them. The antagonist gets equal treatment. Their objective, their plan, what they know about the protagonist, their pressure points, their escalation path, and their fatal flaw. Most villains are vague. Yours has a plan on file.

Each thread has a kind and a logline and an arc. It carries its seeds, its escalations, its twists, its reversals, its reveals, its misdirects, and its intended payoffs. Threads link to each other and to their cast of characters. Every open question and every stake is written down.

And Premise maps every thread against every chapter. If a storyline goes quiet for too long, it flags the gap, so a thread you meant to carry through the whole book cannot silently vanish for ten chapters.

Three acts, each act broken into beats, each beat assigned to chapters in the beat editor. Every beat has a type and a job in the story, and you drag it into the chapter where it belongs. Chapters follow a proven three-act shape, and the beats fill them out.

Every chapter gets a real dossier you can open and read. Its narrative role, its want, its obstacle, its turn, its outcome, and its stake. What changes in the outside world and what the reader learns that they did not know before. What is deliberately withheld, and the anchor object the chapter turns on.

Scenes are planned like scenes and not word buckets. Each scene card sets its POV character, its setting, and the time it takes place. It lists who is onstage, who enters and who leaves, and which threads the scene touches. It carries an emotional shape, where the feeling starts and where it ends, a tension level, the key events, and how it hands off to the scene that follows.

Premise never edits your book on its own. It flags, and you rule.
